Hurricane Emergency Management in North Texas
For those of us living in Dallas County, hurricane preparedness is different than for those living close to coastal areas, such as Houston, Galveston, or Louisiana. Many of us living in Collin County don’t typically live in flood zones, so we don’t tend to prepare as readily as our coastal neighbors.
Yet, understanding how to prepare for a hurricane is still important. Dallas County is often a safe destination for evacuees. It’s important for us to know evacuation routes, where shelters will open in our city, and where we can drop off food and supplies.
Emergency Management offices are important sources of information and news for information and planning in Dallas County and surrounding counties.
